press release
08 December 2021, by Yannick Arts

The Netherlands, December 8, 2021 – After the inaugural edition, won by three time world champion Peter Sagan, the PCS Favorite500 is back for 2021. From Friday December 10 8:00 PM (CET) until Sunday December 19th 8:00 PM, cycling enthusiasts from all over the world can vote for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 of their favorite cyclists via procyclingstats.com/favorite500. The final ranking will be revealed gradually on the website and social media from December 23 until December 31.

In 2020, more than 5,000 lists from 121 countries were submitted, with almost half of those lists containing Peter Sagan. The award, a glass trophy with the Favorite500 logo and list of the recipients’ names engraved in it, was presented to the Slovakian shortly after his win was announced.
“Our website is full of statistics about which rider is the best or which rider won the most races. That’s our business; statistics. However, this ranking is not about who is best, but about who is liked the most. A reason for having a favorite cyclist is completely personal. The contrast between statistics and a subjective ranking like ours, that’s the beauty of it,” said Stephan van der Zwan, CEO and founder of ProCyclingStats.
