Wout van Aert directly reacted by accelarating with Van der Poel chasing. Van Aert got a flat and when leaving the cobble section, Van der Poel had a 15 second advantage on the other favorites Stefan Küng, Mads Pedersen, Filippo Ganna, John Degenkolb and his teammate Jasper Philipsen.
