At approximately 50 kilometers to go in the 2023 Grand Prix de Denain, Hugo Hofstetter, one of the pre-race favourites, crashed and broke his left handlebar. 25 kilometers later, the Frenchman crashed again, this time breaking his right handlebar. He abandonded the one-day race a bit later.
