After being part of a 14 man breakaway in stage 1 of the 2022 Ronde de l'Isard, Loe van Belle broke away in the final kilometers. With a 10 second advantage on the second group, Van Belle seemed to be set to win, until he took a wrong turn and crashed. His teammate Johannes Staune-Mittet attacked in the chasing group and managed to win the stage.
