Key events can be any memorable event, for example an impressive victory but also a major crash, bold solo or anything that makes for sporting memories.
At the start of the final stage of the 2022 CRO Race, Matej Mohorič was eight seconds behind GC leader Jonas Vingegaard. At the first intermediate sprint, only eleven kilometers into the stage, the Slovenian took three bonification seconds. Being only five seconds behind after the sprint, and not gaining any seconds in the remaining two sprints, this meant that Mohorič had to finish first or second, without Vingegaard finishing in the top three.
In the streets of Zagreb, Mohorič jumped from the wheel of teammate Jonathan Milan to that of eventual stage winner Elia Viviani, and comfortably sprinted to second place, overtaking Vingegaard in the final classificaiton.
