Key events can be any memorable event, for example an impressive victory but also a major crash, bold solo or anything that makes for sporting memories.
In the 1975 Ronde van Vlaanderen, World Champion Eddy Merckx opens up the finale on the Oude Kwaremont with still 104km to go. Frans Verbeeck is the only one able to follow, and together they build their lead to more than five minutes to the rest of the field, until Merckx launches a final, decisive attack at 6km from the finish and distances his completely worn-out companion to win Flanders for a second time. After the finish, Verbeeck would utter the legendary words: "Fred, I suffered formidably. He rides 5km per hour faster than the rest of us!".
