Description

At the prologue of the 1989 Tour de France, GC favorite Pedro Delgado was the last rider to take the start, after having won the Vuelta earlier that year. However, at the moment of the start, Delgado was nowhere near the start podium. Two minutes and forty seconds later, Perico showed up, leapt onto his bike, and set off. Erik Breukink won the prologue, Delgado ended up losing fourteen seconds on the Dutchman, which had him at 2:54 in GC.
