In the final kilometer of the opening stage of the 2025 Volta ao Algarve, the peloton followed the motorbikes on the wrong side of a roundabout, causing them to end up on the wrong side of the barriers. A handful of riders, including Filippo Ganna, paid attention and made their way to the correct finish straight. Ganna won, parallel to a sprinting peloton on the other side of the road.
After the race, the jury decided to cancel the results.
