After sprinting to the second place in stage 1 of the 2022 Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Sonny Colbrelli collapsed and fell unconscious. After receiving emergency medical treatment the unfortunate rider was being transferred to a hospital for further assessments. It was later revealed that Colbrelli suffered cardiac arrest, this meant the end of his professional cycling career.
