Key events can be any memorable event, for example an impressive victory but also a major crash, bold solo or anything that makes for sporting memories.
At the end of the 1949 Paris - Roubaix there was a leading group with André Mahe and Frans Leenen . They and the nearby chaser Jacques Moujica were sent the wrong direction to the Roubaix Velodrome , they had to enter the Velodrome through the front door. This was 220 meters longer than the normal course. Mahé was the first to cross the finish line. The peloton followed a little later, Serse Coppi , brother of Fausto Coppi , won the peloton sprint. First, André Mahé was declared the winner. But both Coppis said Mahé had not respected the course. After this, Serse Coppi was declared the winner. Finally, in August 1949, the UCI decided to declare both Serse Coppi and Mahé the winners.
