2005»Weening beats Klöden in a very close sprint

Key events can be any memorable event, for example an impressive victory but also a major crash, bold solo or anything that makes for sporting memories.

Description

In a very close sprint, Pieter Weening beat Andreas Klöden in Gérardmer to win stage 8 of the 2005 Tour de France.

The Dutchman was riding solo on the Col de la Schlucht, the final climb of the day, until the German caught up with him in the final couple hundred meters. The two of them held off the main bunch, and the finish photo was needed to declare the winner.
