Team classifications

Although the rules for the team classification can be different from race to race, most often it is computed by the sum of the times of the best 3 riders of the team in every stage. The team classification is in general not one of the main objectives of a team going into a race. However, there is often prizemoney involved and during a race it can be a nice side bonus to pick up. Also, special colored BIB numbers give media attention in the grand tours.
