In the descent of the Albula Pass during stage 5 of the 2023 Tour de Suisse, Gino Mäder crashed with approximately six kilometers to go to the finish in La Punt. The Swiss rider was resuscitated before being airlifted to a hospital in Chur, where he succumbed to his injuries the next morning.
