2013»Orica-Greenedge bus stuck

Key events can be any memorable event, for example an impressive victory but also a major crash, bold solo or anything that makes for sporting memories.

Description

Maybe the most iconic memory during the 2013 Tour de France was not created by a rider, but by a team bus. The Orica-Greenedge bus got stuck under the finish arch in Bastia. The hold-up caused a lot of confusion under sports directors and riders during the stage. The driver franticly let air out of his tyres to lower the bus before trying to push it backwards. In the meantime, the race jury president, Vicente Tortajada Villarroya, moved the finish to three kilometres out and minutes later, when the bus was finally cleared, back to the original finish line. The stage was won by Marcel Kittel and he grabbed the yellow jersey.
The UCI jury issued Orica-Greenedge a fine of 2000 Swiss Francs for not respecting the race's time schedule
