After the Koppenberg, a group of favourites formed, including world champion and defending winner Jan Raas. Following the Bosberg, Michel Pollentier and Moser attacked, with Raas bridging across. Despite several more attacks from Pollentier, the group stayed together. In the sprint, Pollentier launched a long sprint and managed to hold on to win the Tour of Flanders.
